Carrick on Suir Triathlon Club
Hardman Killarney was a full iron distance event held 2 weeks ago in Killarney. Our guys finished a very credible 5th place. Sean and Andy finished in 10hrs 36mins. Sean completed the 3.8km swim in 1.11hr and the 180k bike in 5.56hr. Then it was Andy’s turn to run the 26.2mile Marathon. He did that and more. Unfortunately a misdirection on the course led to Andy running EXTRA miles.... despite this Andy still clocked a 3.20hr marathon time, which is very impressive. Well done to the two of you.
Early Morning Madness:
Carrick Tri Club has been savouring the last few days of summer with some 6am sunrise swims in Dunmore East. Congratulations to Donal and the gang for braving the early start and enjoying their morning swims.
Sean Kelly Cycle:
More conratulations are in order to all those who took to the road for the Sean Kelly Cycle last week. The routes varied in distance, with options including 50k, 90k and 160k. A special word to Carrick junior Cian O’Keeffe, age 10, from Tramore who completed his first Sean Kelly 50K Tour in a quick time of just over 2hrs, this is a wonderful achievement as Cian has been off his bike for the last few months due to a broken collar bone. A great recovery and great result. Well done.
Ironmen in the making:
Ironman Wales is finally upon us. Best wishes to all our guys, both the seasoned Ironmen and the newbies. It has been a long hard summer full of training, injuries and excitement but this Sunday in Tenby dreams will be fulfilled. Let’s hope the weather holds out to give the guys and gals the best possible Ironman experience. A special mention to Pat, who due to an injury will be no longer racing with us, we wish him a speedy recovery. Also an early thank you to all the supporters heading over. Keep an eye out for our race report in the coming weeks.
Best wishes to Sinead and all other competitors in the Lost Sheep Half Ironman Event on 17th September. Also good luck to all entrants in the Fermoy Triathlon.
