On Sunday next Sean Tobin will once again compete in the European Junior Men Cross Country Championships in Budapest, Hungary.
To represent your country once at such a prestigious event is great but to have the opportunity to represent your country twice in such an event is quite brilliant.
He is also eligible to compete in these Championships again next year. He will do his club, town, county and country proud on that day. This is a fantastic achievement by Sean who is a brilliant ambassador for the sport and for the Club.
To date 2012 has been a brilliant year for Sean. In January he won the Celtic International under 20 Cross Country race in Edinburgh. Then in March he set a new Irish Indoor record for the Boys under 19 1500m when he ran 3 mins 56.52 secs in Nenagh. Then on July 10 he competed at the World Junior Track and Field Championships in the 1500m where he ran an excellent 3 mins 49.11 secs when finishing 6th. In September he competed in the World’s Junior Men uphill Running Championships in North Eastern Italy in very warm conditions and he was part of a strong Irish team. Sean was second Irishman to finish when crossing the line in 30th place in 48 mins and helped the Irish team to achieve its highest ever position in these Championships
Club Chairman, Frank Lynch said that this is a just reward for an athlete of Sean’s calibre.
His dedication is an example to all the other members of the club who are proud of his remarkable achievements.
