Carrick AC athletes enjoyed a very successful day at the Tipperary County Masters Cross-Country Championships in Thurles.
The ladies’ race over 3km was won in fine style by Martina O’Dwyer who came home clear of Angela McCann (Clonmel AC) and Frances Long (Moyne).
This was an ideal run for Martina as she prepares to represent Ireland at the British and Irish Masters Cross-Country in Cardiff next weekend.
In the men’s race, Brian Murphy made it a double for Carrick AC as he stormed home over the 7k course.
The silver medal went to Mark Gleeson (Nenagh Olympic) and Danny Smith (Ballynonty) took the bronze.
With Patrick Roche finishing in sixth place, Tommy Falconer in eleventh and James Fox in twenty-ninth, there was further delight for the Carrick AC team when it emerged that they had secured the team gold with a total of 47 points.
Well done to all five of our runners whose performances made this one of the most successful days for our club in the cross-country sphere.
