Clonmel High School have reached the final of the U19 O’Brien Cup following a 21-13 win over Abbeyfeale Community College in Clonmel last Thursday.
In a very physical match played in difficult conditions, the High School were made work very hard by a determined Abbeyfeale side. They will face the Abbey School from Tipperary Town in the final, who had a very impressive 20-0 victory over a fancied Tralee CBS team in Abbeyfeale also last Thursday.
Based on the results to date, it would seem that the Abbey edge it in the favourite stakes with a very formidable pack and fast running backs. They have had notable wins over Carrigaline Community School, Waterpark College and Charleville CBS in the earlier rounds, while the High School accounted for St. Mary’s, Newport and Pobalscoil na Trionoide, Youghal.
The final will be played this Friday, December 2 in Cashel RFC at 2pm.
