Classic Clonmel Theatre Guild dinner theatre this Christmas

The cast of Clonmel Theatre Guild’s dinner production ‘Funny Money’ .

Clonmel Theatre Guild returns to Raheen House Hotel for its Christmas dinner theatre production of Ray Cooney’s hilarious farce 'Funny Money'.

Directed by Carol Acheson, the production takes to the stage from 5th to 8th December. The opening performance is a benefit night for Clonmel Support Centre.

“The play is a classic English living room based farce where chaos ensues when Mr. Henry Perkins finds his briefcase has been swapped and he is now the proud proprietor of £735,000, probably illicitly earned by some rogue,” explains a Clonmel Theatre Guild spokesperson.

“He decides that this is his way to a new carefree and more comfortable life in Spain. However, detectives come a calling and his wife is none too pleased with this new plan and takes to drink.

"In the classic English farce situation so beloved by drama audiences, this farce by Ray Cooney takes us on many meanings with the audience having to keep up with all sorts of other names and lies. Naturally, it is a laugh a minute with plenty of twists thrown in too. All fitting into classic Guild dinner theatre in the Christmas setting of Raheen House,” the spokesperson adds.
