Pride of place goes to our U12 Div 2 footballers after they secured the county title on Monday 20th in Holycross when they defeated an excellent Cappawhite side. Playing with the aid of the breeze in the first half, we settled early and soon penned Cappawhite back in their half. Two goals and a point from Dean Pyke, and 1.3 from Rhys O’Regan helped us into a 3.7 to 0.1 half time lead. Cappawhite came at us with all guns blazing in the second half and had a goal and two points on the board within minutes. However, our boys have the big match temperament and continued to play good football. A goal by Luke Cashman and a second for Rhys kept the scoreboard ticking over in our favour and there was no way back for Cappawhite. Final score 5.9 to 2.3.
Team: Thomas Hickey, Jack Houlihan, Jack Dillon (Capt), Cathal McGuigan (0.1), Paul Hughes, Gordon Rossiter, Jamie Doyle (0.02), Rhys O’ Regan (2.3), Seanie Fitzpatrick (0.2), Conor Anderson, Dean Pyke (2.1), Ralph Farrell, Luke Cashman (1.0).
Well done to all involved and the management team of Sean Quirke, Johnny Downey, & Mark Dillon. This panel has now won consecutive county titles after their Div 4 success in 2012
Junior hurlers record win
Success for our junior hurlers on Friday night when they defeated Ballingarry in their opening South Championship match in Cloneen on a score of 0.17 to 1.09. Whilst our first touch and shooting was a little off, the effort and work rate was spot on, and this win gives us a good platform for the remaining games.
Panel: Dean Horton, Brian Gentles, Graham Quinn, Aidan Fox, Marc Ahearne, Darragh Kearney, Noel Walsh, Shane Kearney, Karl Kearney, Matthew Norris, Eoin Fallon, Eric Smith, Dwaine Burns, Dean Kelleher, Paul Deady, Conor Arrigan, Mikey Lynch, Stevie O’ Connell, Thomas O’ Leary, Peter Kelleher, Adam Russell, Colin O’ Mahony, Gerry Cunningham, Paddy Power.
Well done to our U10 footballers who have qualified for the knock out stages of the competition that has been running over three consecutive Monday nights in Ned Hall Park. These boys have shown an incredible improvement since the start of the year and great credit to them for their hard work and to their coaches.
The senior footballers are scheduled to play Galtee Rovers in the second round of the County Championship on Wednesday night in Cahir. However, there is a doubt about this fixture with Tipperary playing Waterford in the Munster Junior semi final this coming weekend, and Galtee having men involved. Our Junior B footballers play Clerihan in their first championship match on Saturday 1st June. Throw in is at 19.30 in Monroe so good luck to all concerned.
Well done Emma
Congratulations to Emma Murphy who lined out for Tipperary Schools in The Primary Game in Killarney on Sunday, and well done also to the Clonmel Og girls represented on the CTI team that won their Munster Final on Tuesday 21st.
Our U-14 girl’s team were defeated by Moycarky Borris in the quarter finals of their championship on Friday night in Littleton. While we had lots of possession in the first half we did not take our scores and this came against us in the second half.
