A dominant Toomevara side cruised into the County Junior Hurling A semi-finals thanks to a resounding 4-19 to 2-9 win over Ballylooby-Castlegrace at Semple Stadium, Thurles on Sunday afternoon.
The Greyhounds were ahead by 0-5 to 0-2 when Terry Dunne found the net in the 15th minute. They found the net again two minutes later through Willie Coffey and their third goal arrived in the 19th minute courtesy of Shane Nolan.
David Fox notched shell-shocked Ballylooby’s first score in 19 minutes to leave 12 points between the sides (0-3 to 3-6) before Barry Cooney buried a Ballylooby goal in the 25th minute (1-3 to 3-6).
However Toomevara responded with points from Mark Harty and Tony Delaney before Tony Delaney found the net in the 27th minute. Initially Jamie Coffey had conjured a great save to deny Shane Nolan, but Delaney scooped in the rebound.
Ballylooby managed three of the last four points in the opening half thanks to the efforts of David Fox, Barry Cooney and Bryan Fitzgerald, but they still trailed by an intimidating 12 points (4-9 to 1-6) at the break. Ballylooby were reduced to 14 when wing-back Colm Flynn was sent off in the 36th minute. Their second goal came when goalie Jamie Coffey smacked in an absolute belter of a 21-yard free.
