Tipperary Youths Cup
St Michaels 7 – 3 Cashel Town
St. Michael’s youths welcomed Cashel to Cooke Park on Saturday for a game played in terrible weather. But despite the elements, both teams played some good football befitting before the home side ran out winners on the day.
Shane Neville put the Tipperary Town side in front on 13 minutes, and then doubled their lead ten minutes later, with two excellent strikes. Within three minutes, Neville had completed his hat trick and now the home time looked like they would run riot.
To Cashel’s credit, they fought back and scored on the stroke of half time. Things got better immediately after the restart, when a long range effort by Cashel’s Tom Wade cut the lead to the minimum, but Saint’s knuckled back down to their task and breathed a sigh of relief when Aiden Reale scored seven minutes into the half to make it 4-2.
This knocked the stuffing out of the visitors and the home side scored three goals in 15 minute through Neville’s fourth, Sean Brennan and Elliot Thompson, before Cashel’s TomWade got a consolation goal five minutes before the end.
