Burncourt Celtic 4 – 0 Cashel Town
Cashel Town’s reserves may have a Peter O’Reilly Cup final to look forward to in a couple of weeks, but a woefully abject performance in Burncourt on Sunday made it odds on that they will be playing their football next season in the bottom tier of South Tipperary football.
On the other hand, Burncort Celtic cemented their Third Division status, but will probably be just as disappointed that they never built on cup success that they had before Christmas.
The home side opened the scoring in this game after only four minutes when Pa Ryan got on the end of a cross by Tony O’Donoghue and they doubled that advantage 20 minutes later when Johnny McMahon drove a ball through a crowded penalty area after a corner kick was headed clear.
The second half was ten minutes old when Johnny McMahon struck again to make it three from a scramble inside the Cashel Town area, and ten minutes from time, Pa Ryan stole a ball from the visiting keeper to square to Chris English for an easy tap-in.
