Clonmel brings the curtain down on a very successful year in the pool

Amy Fitzpatrick and Adam O'Ceallaigh who competed at the Irish Swimming Championships in Lisburn recently.

Clonmel Swimming Club had a very busy November with the club attending four galas covering swimmers across all our squads with many of our swimmers also attending the Minor and Schools Championships in the University of Limerick Complex.

The Irish SC Championships were held in Lisburn on the weekend December 2-4.

Clonmel Swimming Club had a record number of 5 swimmers qualify for this competition - Adam O’Ceallaigh, Eoin Hoctor, Amy Fitzpatrick, Moya Whelan and Lillie Wall.

This is a prestigious swimming competition and to qualify is a huge achievement as our swimmers were competing against the top swimmers in Ireland which included the Irish High Performance team.

To put this competition into perspective, there were new Irish Junior and Senior records set at these championships.

We had two swimmers attend. Adam O’Ceallaigh and Amy Fitzpatrick both competed in 50m Backcrawl with both achieving personal bests in their events.

Clonmel Swimming Club are very proud of your achievements and it’s a great accolade to add to your swimming CV.

Huge credit to our coaches (Niamh Whelan and Maria Dempsey) for the excellent training given to Adam and Amy.

We had medal winners in the Minors with a lot of our swimmers achieving qualifying times for the Schools All Ireland's Finals in the NAC next year.

On the senior side we also had personal bests by all our swimmers and once again this resulted in multiple medal winners with great results from our school relay teams.

We have had an amazing Term 1. We finish for the Christmas holidays on Sunday December 18 with a fun gala for all squads.
