Tipp Mid West Radio has launched a ‘Why Weight’ campaign, a radio and on-line support programme to help their listeners lose weight on a healthy basis.
Radio presenter, Breda Ryan, is the spearhead of the campaign after a 40 year battle with weight gain and then finally managing to lose weight and keep it off.
“In April 2012 I decided that it was now or never. Up to that point I had tried everything to lose weight: hypnosis, cabbage diets, every diet under the sun and nothing had worked. For years I wanted to hide my weight and be cheerful all the time; I avoided photographs and I hated going shopping avoiding it all costs. On an emotional level I cried often and was ashamed of myself but nobody ever knew that,” said Breda. “Now, after losing the weight I feel like a different person. I feel good about myself and in control and for the first time in years, I like myself now.”
a healthy lifestyle
“We look at your eating habits, triggers, thoughts and emotions around food and help you breakthrough these to achieve a healthy lifestyle forever,” said Karen Prendergast, a qualified weight loss practioner and stylist who is facilitating the Why Weight campaign with Tipp Mid West Radio.
The radio station is looking for listeners to become candidates for the weight loss programme. Their progress will be tracked on-line with weekly updates and photographs and every Thursday morning on Breda’s show, from 9 to 10am, there will be a live weigh-in.
“This challenge is open to everyone: individuals and clubs and organisations who wish to get together and join in a healthy eating plan and weight loss goals,” said Breda.
