Draws made for North Cork championships on Wednesday night last saw the following teams from the area know their early opponents. In the JAFC Mitchelstown will meet Fermoy with Glanworth playing Buttevant. In the Under 21 A FC Mitchelstown/Araglin v Clyda Rovers. Glanworth meet Kilshannig. In the Under 21 B FC Kildorrery will meet Ballyhooly-Killavullen.

In the Premier JHC Ballygiblin meet the beaten side from the Buttevant-Ballyhooly clash while neighbours Harbour Rovers and Kildorrery also clash.


Mitchelstown CBS Under 15 and a half hurlers lost out to Pobal Scoil na Trionoide Youghal at Watergrasshill in the Munster quarter final on Wednesday last. Youghal held a slight lead all through being 2-2 to 0- 4 clear at the break.

THE LATE NED RONAN The death occurred on February 2 at St Patrick’s Hospital Fermoy of Edmund (Ned) Ronan, Caherdrinna, Mitchelstown, and formerly of Dunmahon, Glanworth. The late Ned was a very popular member of the local community which was borne out by the very large and represented attendance at the removal on Saturday evening from O’Brien’s Funeral Home Mitchelstown to Curraghagalla Church and also at the Requiem Mass and burial on Sunday. Interment took place to St. Dominic’s Cemetery. To his wife Eily (nee Lyons), daughter Mary (Frewen) sons John and Pio, grandchildren Aoife, Jack, son in law Jimmy, daughters in law Mary and Jo, sister Maureen (Kenneally) brother in law (Mikey Lyons) sister in law Lizzie (Sliney) nephews, nieces, relatives, neighbours and many friends we tender our sincere sympathy.

Glanworth Under 21 footballers had a good workout for the defence of their North Cork Under 21 AFC title when they recorded a good win over Donoughmore 2-10 to 0-7 in the Glenville Under 21 tournament at Mallow on Friday night.
