Carrick Davins members started hurling wall drills sessions last Wednesday and there was a great turn out.

The Club will continue these sessions over the winter from 7pm to 8pm every Wednesday.

Indoor training will continue every Thursday from 6pm to 7pm for under 6s and 7pm to 8pm for U-8s.

The Club is delighted with the number of members attending the indoor sessions and thank all the adults and parents, who give up their time to help out in the hall.

Numbers are so good that we ask the parents to send down their children as close to their child’s time slot if possible.

Meanwhile, the Clonea U-14 tournament is expected to go ahead this weekend. Club members should log onto the Davin Club Facebook page for updates on arrangements for this tournament.

All winning juvenile captains have now collected their medals. The Club thanks Clonmel Og and Hayes’ Hotel, Thurles for their hospitality and the south and county boards for their hard work over the past year.

The Club’s presentation night will take place as soon as the minors receive their medals.

The Davin Club agm will take place on December 3 at 7.30pm.

It is vital for the running of the Club that all members and prospective members attend this convention.

There has been a lot of activity around the club house over the past few weeks.

The old snooker table was dusted off, a flat screen television was installed and the shuffle of a deck of cards can be heard on a dark rainy night.

The activity has been so good that the Club has decided to run a Christmas doubles snooker handicap.

The entry fee costs €5 and the competition is open to all members and people interested in join in the club.

Membership costs only €20 and can be taken in full or the costs spread by paying in weekly instalments.

New membership taken our now will cover the rest of 2012 and 2013.

The games room is open every evening except Tuesdays, so just pop in and speak with one of the members or contact Gerry “Tender” Ryan or Mikey McGrath, the handicap organisers.

The Davin Club congratulates Lee Mackey on receiving his Christy Ring winners medal in London last week.

His family travelled to London for the event and I am sure they are very proud of Lee’s achievement.

There wasn’t any winner of the lotto jackpot prize last week. Four tickets matched 3 numbers winning their owners €50 each.

Numbers drawn were 2,12, 15, 27.

The Davin Club extends its sympathy to the Power family, Pearse Square on the death of Briget. May she rest in peace.
