We would like to take the opportunity to thank Michael Desmond and the BN&B CE Scheme participants for the works they have carried out in the area so far this spring. Various re-planting has been carried out in the area along with the planting of some trees provided by South Tipperary County Council for National Tree Week. The stone wall along the river Tar on the Newcastle road has been cleaned off and looks great. A meeting of the above committee will take place tonight, Wednesday, April 10, at 8pm. All committee members are requested to attend.


Membership has now opened for Goatenbridge Trout Anglers Club on sections of the River Tar for 2013. Persons living within a 5km radius of Goatenbridge are eligible to apply for full voting membership. Cost: €20 Adult, €10 Child. Day Passes: €10 with deals available for multiple days. This cost includes insurance etc. If you reside outside of the 5km area associate membership can be applied for in writing to the Club Secretary. To mark the 90th Anniversary of the death of General Liam Lynch, a weekend of commemoration has being organised in Newcastle. There will be a historical walk on Saturday, April 6, registration at 12.30pm at the Community Hall, Newcastle. Further details from Helen 0877910454, Michael 0877539276 or 0872336645. The Commemoration Mass will take place in Newcastle on Sunday, April 7, at 1pm. The oration will be delivered by Mr Michaél Martin TD, Uachtarán Fhianna Fáil.
