Congratulations to our u13 School football team which prevailed against strong opposition to win the Divisional Final. They played with great skill, commitment and team spirit. They have now qualified for the county final v Borrisokane N.S. Go n-eiri an t-adh libh. Best of luck to all.

Ballingarry GAA

Ballingarry GAA club held a successful tractor run and auction on Sunday, October 27. A big thank you to the local unit of Civil Defence who led the tractor run from start to finish. Church Notes

Friday, November 1, is the feast of All Saints and is a Holyday of obligation. Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, the vigil of All Saints, at 7pm. Mass on Friday at 10.30am. Mass on Saturday at 7pm. Saturday, November 2, is the feast of All Souls. Mass will be celebrated at 7pm. Envelopes for the Holy Souls are available in the porches. Rosary for the Holy Souls will be offered after Mass next Sunday, November 3, for all those buried here in the church cemetery. The sick and the housebound will be visited with the Sacraments on Friday, November 1.

Old School, The Commons 
There are no music lessons until the week beginning November 4. Children’s Step Dancing takes place on Fridays at 5.15pm and new dancers are always welcome. Adult Set Dancing on Mondays at 8.30pm, new dancers welcome.

Rose Festival

Ballingarry Rose Festival hosted “Escorts in Drag” in Amby’s Bar on Saturday night last.Music was by Johnny B & The Boogy Men. The Ccrowning of the Ballingarry Rose in the Community Centre was on Sunday night.

Public Meeting

Public Meeting in Cahir House Hotel on Tuesday, October 29, at 8pm to discuss the proposal to erect pylons and overhead powerlines throughout South Tipp.

Health Matters

Chiropodist will attend Millennium Family Resource Centre on Wednesday, November 6, at 10.30am. Contact 0529157992.

Flu vaccine is now available in Ballingarry Health Centre by appointment with practice nurse. The HSE recommends flu vaccine for all those over 65 years as well as younger people with chronic illnesses. It is also recommended for people with close regular contact with pigs or poultry.

Mohober NS

Mohober National School is holding a Christmas Fair and Fun afternoon for all on Sunday, November 24, from 2pm to 5pm in the school. Included on the day will be many handmade crafts, home baking, children’s table quiz and a children’s entertainer. Complimentary tea and coffee.

Presentation Secondary School
Poetry Aloud: Congrats to all our students who competed in the Regional Finals of the Poetry Aloud competition in Ursuline Secondary School, Thurles on October 24. Martin McGrath 1st year and Ciara O’ Connor 6th year qualified for the semi-finals in the National Library.

Challenge To Change: On Wednesday last Ms. Cahill Principal, Ms Murphy and students Katie Power and Aine Doheny travelled to Tullamore for a seminar on Development Education to mark the tenth anniversary of The Challenge to Change Project. There were a number of presentations and an opportunity to view projects which raised awareness on issues of injustice and inequality. Our students asked the question ”How many slaves work for you?” as they focused on the sweat shop industry and the production of high street clothing using child labour.

TY Outing: The TY’s together with Ms Coleman had a most enjoyable outing as they went to the matinee of ”Kiss me Kate” which was Presentation Secondary School, Clonmel’s annual production.

Sport: Congratulations to our senior football team who defeated North Mon early last week and we wish them the best for their next game.


Public Meeting

A public meeting arranged by Cllr Marie Murphy about the Gridlink project will be held in Burncourt Community Hall on this Friday, November 1, at 8pm. The Gridlink project consists of a new high voltage overhead power line on pylons up to 44 meters high. A corridor through South Tipperary has been identified as one possible option and this corridor comes very close to Burncourt. Every household needs to have their say as to how this could affect them and their community. Submissions to Eirgrid have to be made before 5pm on November 26.

Christmas Craft Fair

Burncourt Community Council’s Annual Christmas Craft Fair will take place on Sunday, November 17, from 1pm to 5pm in the Community Hall. Why not come along and see the selection of products on offer. As always there will be teas and home baking to enjoy. Anyone interested in taking part contact 0876967661.

Recent Birth

Congratulations to Eimear and David Casey on the birth of their baby son, a welcome brother for Aoibhinn and Michael. Wishing the family every joy and blessing with the new arrival and wishing baby Cormac a lifetime of health and happiness.

Novena Masses

The annual Novena Masses for deceased relatives will commence in Duhill Church on Wednesday, November 6, at 7.30pm and continue both in Ballylooby and Duhill through the remainder of the week and conclude in Duhill on Wednesday, November 13. Ballylooby Parish Church is celebrating 200 years of faith and worship in Ballylooby Church that is scheduled to be held on December 6 at 7.30pm. Monsignor Michael Olden will preside at this Thanksgiving Mass and share in the history of faith in the parish. All are welcome to this special event in the parish

Drangan Cloneen ARA
A meeting of Drangan Cloneen Active Retirement Association will be held in Drangan Community Centre at 2.30pm on Tuesday, November 5. A speaker from Citizens Advice will discuss the effects of the budget.

Macra Gathering

Cashel Macra Na Feirme have arranged a Gathering in Hala Na Feile on Friday, November 1, at 8pm. Former Macra members from other clubs and areas are invited to a night of nostalgia. Tickets €30 from Seamus Hayes in Cashel or Nicholas Moroney in Drangan.

CLCG Naomh Pádraig
u21 hurlers played Grangemockler/Davins last Saturday. After drawing with Moyle Rovers the weekend before a win was essential. It was a tight game and we only managed to pull away when Grangemockler Davins had two lads sent off in the last 15 minutes. We won 2-12 to 2-08. On Saturday, November 2, our u21 hurlers play Kilsheelan-Kilcash at 2pm in Mullinahone in the final match in the league section of the championship.GAA Club Gathering: On Saturday, November 23, St. Patricks GAA Club will hold a function in Cloneen Sports & Social Club to mark the 50th Anniversary of winning three South Finals in 1963. Guests of Honour will be the members of the Junior Hurling, Junior Football and Minor Football panels of that year. We will also mark the 60th Anniversary of winning the Co. Senior and Junior Football championships of 1953. Mass for deceased members of the GAA will be celebrated in The Church of the Nativity Cloneen at 7pm that evening.


Eire Og Annacarty

Fixture U21 Hurling: West semi-final v Galtee Rovers to be fixed in the coming weeks. Race Night: The Eire Og club will be hosting a Fundraising Race Night on Friday, November 22, in Jerry Jack’s Bar, Annacarty. Price for a horse is €10, available from all committee members and players.
