The All-Ireland finals of Scór Sinsear will be held in Derry on Saturday next, April 27, and Newcastle is represented by Sinéad Grant in the amhránaíocht aonair or solo singing competition. Sinéad has represented the club on previous occasions reaching the Munster final on a number of occasions. However, this year Sinéad won a very tight competition in the Munster final in Templemore recently and qualified to represent Newcastle, Tipperary and Munster in the All-Ireland finals. Everyone involved with Newcastle GAA club wishes Sinéad all the best on Saturday as she tries to emulate the achievement of Mary Nugent in 1992 in winning the same title. Good luck Sinéad.

Newcastle GAA club will hold their second road hurling competition on Bank Holiday Monday, May 6. Registration will take place in the GAA complex between 12 noon and 2pm. Entry fee €10 per person with teams of three taking part. Under 18s can take part for €5 but there must be at least one adult on each juvenile team.

Congratulations to Séamus Kennedy who had the honour of captaining Tipperary in the recent Munster U21 football final. The result of the game was disappointing but it was still a very proud moment for Séamus and his family.
