St Molleran’s hurlers are under
pressure after defeat to De La Salle

St Molleran’s Intermediate hurlers were defeated by De La Salle last Friday.

St Molleran’s Intermediate hurlers were defeated by De La Salle last Friday.

The Carrickbeg team played with a gale force wind in the first half but De La Salle were the dominant force and led by four points at the break. Half time score was: De la Salle 1-06, St Molleran’s 0-5.

St Molleran’s performance improved slightly in the second half but they were always struggling against a well drilled opposition. This was a very disappointing display from the Intermediate team.

The team must get its act together and prepare for its next game against a highly touted Ferrybank team. Final score De La Salle 1-12, St Molleran’s 0-8.

The Junior hurlers played championship games against Portlaw and Tramore last week.

The team played well against Portlaw but their finishing in front of goal left a bit to be desired and they lost the game.

The Juniors also lost their game against Tramore but their performance was considerably improved compared to their previous outing.

St Molleran were beaten by four points in the match. They conceded a lot of frees, which cost them dearly in the end.

The Club’s weekly lotto draw began on Monday. Anyone interested in joining the draw should contact any St Molleran’s Committee member, who will put them in contact with the lotto promoter for their area.

St Molleran’s U-12 hurlers suffered their first league defeat last Friday when they were beaten by St Mary’s.

Both teams were evenly matched in the first half but St Mary’s scored a couple of early second half goals, which seemed to deflate the Carrickbeg youngsters who couldn’t recover and were eventually beaten comfortably.

Meanwhile, anyone with ol St Molleran’s club memorabilia is requested to contact any club member.
