END OF AN ERA
The Convent of Mercy, New Inn is closing after 135 years service to the community. To honour the Sisters who gave such commitment to the parish, the parishioners are organising a Mass of Thanksgiving in New Inn Church on Thursday, at 7pm. This will be a concelebrated mass presided over by His Grace, Archbishop Dermot Clifford and involving present and former priests of the parish. As many of the Mercy Sisters as possible from the diocese will be in attendance and all past pupils and teachers are invited to attend. There will then be a reception in the local hall - NICC - where everyone can reminisce with their former teachers and classmates over a nice cup of tea and refreshments. A fitting farewell to a Religious Order who will be deeply missed.
Scoil Mhuire Gan Smal are holding their annual Christmas concert on Wednesday, December 5, at 12.45pm and on Thursday, December 6, at 8pm in the convent hall. The matinee 1pm show is running this year for the first time. We invite all members of our community to join us on these dates for two hours of great entertainment. €5 per adult. The Parent’s Council are organising a children’s disco in New Inn Community Centre on December 21, from 5.30pm to 7.30pm.
Names are now being taken for the Xmas party night out, which is on this year in the Horse & Jockey Hotel, Thurles on Friday, December 14. Please let Mary Frances know asap on 0527462252.
