U12s - On August 3 the U12 hurlers travelled to the Gaelic Grounds in Limerick to play in the U12 hurling blitz. They played Ballinascarthy Cork, Shannon Rovers and Killgarvan Kerry and emerged winners in all three games. The teams were then given a tour of the stadium by Limerick Senior captain Gavin O’Mahoney. The day was finished off with a well deserved trip to Super Macs.

U14s - Golden/Kilfeacle had a hurling challenge against Rosegreen last week. Golden played very well and are improving each week.

U12AH Final - Golden/Kilfeacle v Clonoulty/Kickhams on Sunday 21st at 7.30pm. Venue yet to be decided.

Best of luck to local girl Niamh O’Connell who will take part as the Sunderland Rose in this year’s Rose of Tralee Festival. Niamh is a daughter of Michael and Margaret O’Connell, Ballina, Golden. The world famous festival kicks off this week and will climax with the 2011 Rose crowned in the dome Tralee on Tuesday, August 23. Niamh is a sister to Jennifer O’Connell who was recently crowned queen of the Suir so we hope Niamh can follow in her footsteps and take next weeks crown. Best of luck also to Clonoulty Rossmore local Noreen Ryan who is this year’s Tipperary Rose. Noreen is a sister to Declan Ryan of Tipperary hurling and management fame. With two such lovely local ladies there is bound to be a lot of interest in this year’s festival.
