Cashel RFC reach East Munster Cup quarterfinal

East Munster Under 15’s Cup

East Munster Under 15’s Cup

Cashel 18 Fethard 5

Sunday morning saw Cashel under 15’s take on Fethard in a quarter final of the East Munster Cup. With conditions under foot good, the team started the game at a blistering pace and put the visitors under all kinds of pressure around the field. Their work rate was rewarded in the fifteenth minute with a superb try by Pat Muldoon.

Nearing the close of the first half with Cashel on the attack, Fethard scored an opportunist try to leave the sides level at the interval. The home side began the second half as they did the first and again piled on the pressure with Mickey Wilson, Blake Ryder and Winnie Ryan to the fore. Again their teamwork was rewarded with tries from Davy English and Lar Shanahan to put the game beyond Fethard. A further penalty from the boot of Pat Muldoon sealed the deal for the home side.

This was a comprehensive win for the under 15’s using all their depth on the bench. Good display of skills, ball handling and stout defense by Philip Ryan, Declan O’Dwyer, Cathal O’Connor, Brian Fitzpatrick and Dylan Kennedy left the coaches feeling proud of their charges for the commitment shown.

They now head into a semi final which is indeed a just reward for this committed group.

Munster Junior Cup

Cashel 14 Garryowen 24

Cashel hosted the famous Limerick side Garryowen on Sunday afternoon in Spafield. The visitors went nine points up early on in the first half leaving the Tipperary side with a hill to climb for the rest of the afternoon. They did however never lose the fighting instinct which has been on display all year and the Limerick side never felt completely comfortable until the very end of the game.

Mini Rugby

Mini’s had a blitz on Sunday morning with U7’s to U12’s from Clanwilliam and Galbally paying a visit to Cashel. Lovely fine morning with excellent playing conditions and a great morning of rugby. Thanks to all the parents who brought food for our guests. This was our last home blitz – we will be travelling to Thurles on Sunday, March 25, and our final day will be Sunday, April 1, when we will have a morning of fun and games for all the Mini’s to finish off the season.

St. Patrick’s Day

Next Saturday the Mini’s will march as usual in the St. Patrick’s Day Parade – please note that this year we will be marching behind a float and not with the other groups – therefore we will assemble on Ladyswell outside the old cinema – please drop off your child by 1.30pm.
