Ardfinnan GAA

Under 21:

Ardfinnan defeated Commercials in the South semi final on Saturday last in Cahir. This was a keenly contested game and it took extra time to separate the teams. Ardfinnan started well and lead by 2 points after 10 minutes. Commercials then got a grip on the game and took a 4 point lead into the last 20 minutes of the game. Ardfinnan dug deep and after a Daniel O’Regan goal they kicked 3 unanswered points to lead by 2 points entering injury time. Commercials fought back and leveled the game with 2 Michael Quinliven pointed frees to send the game to extra time. Ardfinnan ran out 4 point winners in extra time to book their place in the South final for the second consecutive year. The South final will be played in Clonmel on Sunday next at 2pm with against Moyle Rovers. The club would like to appeal to our supporters to come in large numbers on Sunday and to get behind the team on the Day. We would like to wish the players and management the very best of luck in our quest to win the first silverware of the year.

Our seniors are back in training. We have been drawn to play Moyle Rovers in the first round of the County championship with the winners playing Kilsheelan or Clonmel Og, this is likely to be played in July. We play Cahir in our first group game in the South championship and this game should be played in March.

The juniors continue training on Friday nights. We have been drawn in a group containing St Pats, Newcastle and Fethard for the championship.

Our minors were defeated by a point by Ballingarry in the county leaguer on Sunday last in Ardfinnan. Our group for the South Championship contains Clonmel Og, Commercials B, Carrick Swan and St Pats.
