Crib donations help kids charity

Crib donations help kids charity

A Christmas crib in Carrick-on-Suir raised close to E700 for the Jack and Jill Foundation charity.

Tony and Mary Fitzgerald of Ash Park, Carrick-on-Suir, who set up the illuminated crib at their home, thank all those who visited it over the Christmas period. Total donations amounted to €696.50 for which a draft has been sent to the Jack and Jill Foundation.

ICA meeting

Faugheen ICA Guild’s next meeting takes place this Friday, February 1.

The Guild thanks all members and friends, who contributed to the cake sale and raffle.

The committee hopes to see everybody back, refreshed and ready for the spring activities.

Rathgormack card drive

The monthly 25 Progressive 25 card game in aid of Rathgormack Community & Hiking Centre takes place in the centre this Thursday, January 31 at 8.45pm.

Winners of last month’s game on Christmas night were Mickey Nugent and Pat Fogarty.

Faugheen Community Alert meeting

The Community Alert Committee for the Faugheen/Ahenny area is organising a meeting in the local clubhouse next Monday, February at 8pm in relation to the recent spate of break-ins in the community.

Margaret Quinn from Muinter na Tire and a local garda will be in attendance. The Committee request one person from each household to attend this very important meeting.

Youth Mass

Kilkenny hurling team manager Brian Cody will address the congregation at the annual Carrick-on-Suir Youth Mass.

The Mass will be celebrated in St Nicholas Church at 7.30pm on Thursday, February 21.

Mr Cody will address the congregation at the end of the Mass.

The Youth Committee extends a special welcome to all, especially members of sports clubs, youth clubs and any other youth associated groups.

It would be a nice gesture if such clubs or organisations attend in their club uniforms and carry a flag or banner.

Retreat Centre seminar

Fr. Jim Cogley will present a seminar about family trees at Glencomeragh Retreat House near Kilsheelan on Saturday 9th February from 10am to 4.30pm.

The seminar will explore aspects of our ancestral and family shadow.
