Table quiz for hospital

On Thursday, November 15, at 9pm, a Table quiz will be held in in Brian Boru, Cashel in aid of recreational facilities in St Patrick’s Hospital.

€5 per person or €20 a table of four. All support appreciated.

Archeology Boot Camp

Adopt a Monument Project - Cashel, 12th to 14th November.

If you like Time Team, if you think archaeology is very interesting or you just want to dig deeper into Cashel’s past, this is your chance.

The boot camp is aimed at adults who want to learn more about archaeology. Designed to be very �hands-on� and to teach the participants real archaeological skills including scaled technical drawing, optical survey, burial excavation and forensic archaeology techniques, scientific analysis of environmental samples, how to use documentary sources and resources and finds identification. Designed to be fun, informal, practical and FREE this is your chance to unleash your inner Lara Croft or Indiana Jones. The Adopt a Monument Archaeology Boot Camp is funded under the South Tipperary Heritage Plan by the Heritage Council and South Tipperary County Council and run by a professional archaeologist.

Social Tea Dance

Halla na Feile is looking forward to the return of Catherine & the Images for a Social Tea Dance on Friday, November 16. Dancing is from 9 pm to midnight, teas and sandwiches will be served and admission is €8.

Social Dancing Classes continue on Tuesday evenings from 8.30 to 10.45 pm. An extra half hour is added on for those who like ‘Ballroom’ and all for €5 - a very enjoyable way to pass an evening.

Benefit Dance

On this Friday night November 9 a benefit dance will be held in Brian Boru, Main Street, Cashel, for Alan O’Dwyer from Bawnmore, Cashel who emigrated to Australia last year. Eight weeks ago Alan was involved in a serious farm accident and is still in hospital and receiving constant medical attention. He is the son of Pat (nee Mooney) and Pascal who are well known around Cashel for all their work on behalf of numerous groups. A committee was formed three weeks ago to help raise funds and to try to alleviate some of the considerable cost incurred on Alan and the family. The committee have been busy selling tickets and they have been getting a great response. While recognising the current tough economic climate they are asking the people of Cashel to give their continued support to make the event a success. Tickets are €5, doors open at nine and music is by the Bru Boys and special guests, a super night is guaranteed so come along and show your support.

Cashel Boxing Club

Cashel Boxing Club will host the Munster League starting on Friday, November 16 at 7pm in the club on the Cahir Road (opposite Lidl) in Cashel. Boxers from the age of eleven years and up, from all over the province will take part and it will be a great opportunity to see the present and future Munster boxing stars in action! Tickets can be bought on the night for just €3. The second leg of the league will also be held in Cashel Boxing Club on Sunday, November 25, at 2pm. Don’t miss this opportunity to see boxers from your local club as well as boxers from all parts of Munster.

Shoebox Appeal

The Cashel Lions Club draw attention to their Christmas Shoe Box appeal which will be completed in the Parish Centre on Friday, November 9, between 6.30 & 8 pm. The Lions would like to fill as many boxes as possible to send to children in countries where the level of material wealth is much lower than here. The boxes are filled with small items such as tooth brushes, toothpaste, soaps, hairbrushes, combs, notepads, colouring books, picture books, pencils, crayons, balls, hats, scarves, gloves, socks, small toys, jewellery, make-up sets, hair accessories, in fact any item that will make it a happier Christmas for children up to 15 years. Financial assistance would also be welcome to pay for wrapping and despatch.

Gate Collection

This weekend’s St Patrick’s Church Gate collections in Cashel will be in aid of the Cashel St. Patrick’s Parade. The Committee thank all mass goers in advance for their generous contributions, and remind all of the Parade volunteers that they too can take part in the collection by calling the Parade Secretary Sean Laffey on 06262685
