Ballygiblin hurlers suffered a heavy defeat at the hands of Ballycloughin the Cavanagh’s Fermoy Div 3 hurling league at Ballyclough on Friday evening last. The final score was 3-17 to 0- 5.

Ballygiblin Premier Junior hurlers face Ballyhooly in the opening round championship this Sunday May 20 in Glanworth 3pm.

Ballygiblin hurlers have the following league games in the coming weeks – Div 3 HL Ballygiblin v Buttevant, Ballygiblin, May 22, 7.30pm. May 29, Ballygiblin v Killavullen in Killavullen 7.30pm Div 1 HL Ballygiblin v Sarsfields in Riverstown Sunday, May 27, 3pm. June 6th Ballygiblin v Clyda Rovers in Mourneabbey 8pm.

Ballygiblin Div 1 hurlers need to win their two games v Sarsfields and Clyda Rovers to have a chance of making the semi finals.

The death occurred on May 10, at Cork University Hospital, of Michael Scanlon, Arch Avenue, Mitchelstown, after am long illness. The late Michael (Mick) was very well known locally. He was predeceased by his son Michael less than three weeks ago. There was a large attendance at the removal on Sunday evening from O’Brien’s Funeral Home to the Parish Church and also at the Requiem Mass and burial on Monday. Interment took place to the adjoining cemetery. To his daughters Michelle, Susan (O’Brien) son James, sister Ann (Murphy) grandchildren, great grandchildren, son in law Dave, brother in law Frank, nephews, nieces, relatives neighbours and friends we tender our sincere sympathy.
