Jason Maher from the Gatehouse was elected as the first ever chairperson of Cahir Chamber at a meeting in Cahir House Hotel last Thursday night. He will be joined on the committee by David Walsh from Cahir House Hotel as Vice Chair and Maria Taylor from the Promoting Cahir Group as Secretary.

A committee of ten was selected at the meeting that night and there was a wide ranging discussion regarding the future of the Chamber.

A number of initiatives to develop and maintain business in Cahir were discussed and sub committees have also been put in place to deliver on these projects.

A further meeting is to be scheduled in Cahir for mid November, please see newspapers for more details. Meanwhile, if anyone would like further information about the Chamber and how to get involved please call Brian Cleary at Clonmel Chamber on 0526126500.

Cahir Castle Spooky Halloween Event

On both Saturday and Sunday night last weekend Cahir Castle screened an animated children’s film aptly named ‘Hotel Transylvania’ just as children are starting their midterm Halloween break. Both nights were completed booked out and both visiting children and staff got into the spirit of things and dressed appropriately in all things scary!

On both nights children were treated to popcorn, drinks and sweets which all added to their enjoyment and it is no surprise to hear that the parents also enjoyed themselves thoroughly.

Don’t forget, Cahir Castle and all other OPW sites are free to visit on the first Wednesday of every month.

Enjoying last weekend’s Halloween fun were (pictured above) Donnacha Reidy, Ernie O’Brien, Charlie O’Brien, Leah Reidy and Louis O’Brien who were all at the castle for the film screening.
