Severe Weather Warning: Code Level Red is currently in place until 3pm on Friday, March 2.
Tipperary County Council’s Severe Weather Team met today (Thursday) at 11am and the focus of attention is now being concentrated on the Council’s response following the Code Level Red warning period.
The Council will carryout a further salting of all priority routes today at 1am following which all Council operations will be stood down during the blizzard conditions.
All Operatives will be on Standby following the Red Alert period at which time the situation will be re-assessed and works prioritised accordingly.
The Council’s out of hours emergency number –1890 923 948 will be activated from 3pm today and will remain in place until Monday, March 5, at 9.30am.
All Council Offices and facilities (Motor Tax Offices, Libraries, Museums, and Civic Amenity sites) will remain closed to the public until Monday.
During the Red Alert period and depending on conditions, the Council’s Emergency services will of necessity be restricted to responding to life threatening situations.
In many cases the Council may not be able to respond at all, depending on our ability to get to the location, the safetyof our staff and the extent of snow removal involved.
The Council’s Severe Weather Team will continue to convene over this period and further updates and advice will be made available where necessary.
